TGE Marine delivers LNG fuel units for first Q-max conversion

TGE Marine informed that in mid-January it has delivered the skid-mounted LNG fuel gas package units destined for the conversion of the first Qatari Q-max carrier to run on LNG or HFO.

The conversion of the 266,000 cbm Rasheeda LNG carrier shall take place at the Nakilat Keppel Offshore & Marine facilities in Qatar and shall start in April this year.

Factory acceptance test of the prefabricated modules took place in December last year in Germany and the units have been shipped on schedule, according to a statement by TGE Marine.

TGE Marine’s CEO, Manfred Küver, said, “After a very intensive basic and detailed engineering phase we delivered the modules on schedule.”

Küver added that the modules will be put in operation sometime in the second quarter of this year.

After the gas trials, the Rasheeda will be the first LNG carrier working on a converted MAN ME-GI engine.
