Neste Jacobs to study LNG potential in Port of Turku

The Finnish engineering company Neste Jacobs on Tuesday said it has signed a deal with Port of Turku to analyse the potential and possibilities for LNG in Turku region.

According to the company’s statement, an LNG terminal would be located in Pansio harbour area in Turku, serving both maritime traffic, and public transport and the local industry needs.

Under the agreed project with the Port of Turku, Neste Jacobs will investigate the potential demand for liquefied natural gas in the Turku area, in maritime traffic, and other factors supporting the project’s implementation.

In 2012, Port of Turku signed a letter of intent with Gasum on building an import terminal for LNG in the Pansio harbour. The terminal would include a storage tank with the capacity to hold 30,000 cbm of LNG.
