CNOOC expanding Fujian LNG terminal’s capacity

China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) has reportedly started constructing two additional storage tanks at its Fujian LNG terminal in the city of Putian in southeast China.

China’s largest LNG importer is planning to raise the import terminal’s processing capacity to 6.3 million tons per annum, Reuters reports, citing Xinhua news agency.

The terminal already includes four LNG storage tanks with the capacity to store 160,000 cbm of the chilled gas each.

The additional two tanks are a part of the Fujian province government’s plan to supply gas to three power plants and cities of Fuzhou, Putian, Quanzhou, Xiamen and Zhangzhou, an investment worth about US$3.7 billion.
