Teekay’s 137,814-cbm LNG carrier Hispania Spirit built in 2002 completed its drydocking at the Navantia Ferrol shipyard in Spain.

The vessel built in South Korea by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) had undergone its scheduled 15 year maintenance service.

The process of dry-docking refers to when a vessel is taken to the service yard and brought to dry land so that submerged portions of the hull can be cleaned and inspected.

Teekay said that prior to Hispania Spirit the company had dry-docked 17 LNG vessels since 2013.

The process includes, the vessel being dry-docked with the assistance of tug boats after which the water is drained from the dry dock before maintenance work can start. Once all planned work is complete, the dock is flooded getting ready for the vessel’s departure.

The dry-docking video of the Hispania Spirit LNG carrier can be seen below in the video released by the company.
