Lithuania: Klaipeda LNG volumes rise in August

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification volumes at Lithuania’s first and only import terminal in the port of Klaipeda increased in August.

The terminal operator Klaipedos Nafta’s data shows that the company’s LNG import terminal and its small-scale LNG facility have regasified and reloaded 1.52 TWh of natural gas in August, 136.5 percent above the 0.64 TWh recorded during the same period of 2018.

During the first eight months of 2019, the company in total regasified and reloaded 10.19 TWh of the natural gas which compares to 6 TWh during the same period of 2018.

Sales revenue from the LNG facility in August reached €5.8 million ($6.4 million) 11.5 percent above the €5.2 million reported in the corresponding quarter last year.

The preliminary revenue of the LNG terminal for the January-August period comprise €68.8 million up by 0.7 percent compared to the €68.3 million reported in the same period of 2018.

Commenting on the figures, Klaipedos Nafta noted that Klaipėda LNG terminal continues maintaining high activity volumes and the demand for Klaipėda LNG terminal capacity was further increased by the favorable situation in international LNG markets.

Eesti Energia joined the list of terminal users following the contract signature in August.
