Cuadrilla Wins Poland Shale Exploration License

Cuadrilla Resourcess said it has been awarded the Pionki Exploration Licence in Poland. The licence covers an area of 207,372 acres (827.42 km²), and is located in east-central Poland in the greater Lublin Trough/Radom-Krasnik High.

Cuadrilla will, in the first instance, be undertaking a 150km 2D seismic program which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2013.

The northern half of the licence (Lublin Trough) is composed of Devonian and Carboniferous shales and tight fractured carbonates in the 3,000 to 5,000 metre range.

The southern half of the licence (Radom-Krasnik High) is mapped to have both Silurian and Devonian shales and tight fractured carbonates in the 2,500 to 4,000 metre range.

We are pleased to be awarded this important exploration licence,” said Francis Egan, Cuadrilla’s chief executive. “The Pionki licence in Poland will complement our ongoing exploration activities in the UK, Holland, and Hungary.”
