Japan: December LNG Imports Climb 7.4 Percent

Japan’s LNG imports reached 7.7 million tonnes in December, up 7.4 percent compared to the year before, according to data released by the finance ministry.

Japan imported record 87.31 million tonnes in 2012, a rise of 11.2 percent compared to the year before.

The country’s monthly LNG imports have been rising steadily year on year, due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.
