Iran Swaps 1.750 Bcm of Azerbaijan Gas for Nakchivan

Over the past eight years, Iran has taken 1.750 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan and has delivered the same amount to autonomous Republic of Nakchivan.

NIGEC figures show that gas swap with the neighboring country hit the highest level in 2012 standing at 347 million cubic meters, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

Iran and Azerbaijan signed a swap gas contract in 2004 for a 25 year period. Under the contract Iran takes 2 million cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan Republic on overage on a daily basis and delivers it to Nakchivan enclave through Astara border, northwest of Iran.
