Oil Search: Non-Executive Director Takes Leave of Absence

Oil Search said that its board has granted Ziggy Switkowski leave of absence as a non-executive director of the company for a period of up to five months.

This leave is to accommodate the significant duties Ziggy has assumed on an interim basis as the recently appointed Executive Chairman of the National Broadband Network Company (NBNCo), Oil Search said in a statement.

Commenting on the leave, Chairman Rick Lee said: “As a valued member of the Oil Search Board, we believe it is in the best interests of the Company to release Ziggy from his Board duties over the next several months, on the understanding that he will resume those duties once his executive commitments at NBNCo come to an end.

Ziggy has acquired a detailed knowledge of the Company’s operations and strategic drivers in the three years he has served on the Board. As the Board has recently completed a refreshment process, with a number of new directors appointed, the Company believes it is important to retain Ziggy’s services to provide continuity at Board level, particularly as we transition to being an LNG producer.”
