China: CIC Changxing Shipyard Repairs MV Pro Alliance

CIC Changxing Shipyard completed the repair of MV “Pro Alliance” to owner’s satisfaction. MV “Pro Alliance”, owned by SK Group which is the third biggest shipping company in Korea, is 244M of LOA and moulded with 42M. The main work scope was to have an intermediate survey. Upon her arrival to the shipyard, she was regarded as a key project of safety monitor as well as the repair work, as her last cargo carried was naphtha and the weather was quite hot.

Beginning from the first day she entered the shipyard, the leaders of production department went onboard to supervise the arrangements of production & safety measures. With the assistance of the safety officers, the SRM and supervisors of the shipyards worked together to eliminate the hidden dangers.

Especially for the conversion of ODME system, they carefully checked every potential hidden danger related to slop tanks and pump room, and took effective measures to have the repair work done in order. The reasonable working schedule and the initiatives of SRM & supervisors ensured the successful repair of the subject vessel and impressed the shipowner most favorably. The owner sent a commendatory letter to CIC Changxing shipyard.

Meanwhile, the managers of production department and purchasing department made great effort to the repair work. Just before sailing, the vessel could not get a garbage receipt certificate due to the wrong IMO No. The managers initiatively helped the ship side to communicate with the related parties and solved the problem in time.

With joint efforts of all departments, the vessel was re-delivered smoothly. The shipowner was quite satisfied with the repair work and hoped to cooperate with the shipyard again in the near future.
