The Asia Africa Europe-1 (AAE-1) submarine cable system has landed in Cambodia.

Optic Marine Offshore and the crew of the cable laying barge ‘Cable Orchestra’ have completed the shore end lay at Sihanoukville, Cambodia.

AAE-1 is a 25,000 km system owned by a consortium of 19 global service providers that will connect Southeast Asia to Europe across Egypt.

The cable connects Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Yemen, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Greece, Italy and France.

AAE-1 will deploy 100Gbps technology with wavelength add/drop branching units along the lowest latency route with design capacity of over 40 terabits.
