ACE Winches Officially Launches ACE Services

After many years offering equipment survey and refurbishment works, ACE Winches is proud to announce the official launch of the company’s newest division – ACE Services.

ACE Winches Officially Launches ACE Services

The division offers a range of service contracts, upgrades and commissioning work for clients requiring the overhaul of existing winch packages, with all equipment subject to comprehensive testing prior to delivery.

Graham Thomson, Chief Operating Officer, said: “We’ve been overhauling and testing non-ACE winch equipment and deck machinery from our client’s operations for years now and such a successful and growing element of the business needs its own dedicated organisational structure as a stand-alone brand within the ACE Winches corporate identity.”

With expert assessment from ACE Service Engineers, a full on-site survey and comprehensive report can identify all existing components, operational condition and recommended refurbishment.

ACE Services also incorporates a product sourcing facility to supply third party products including wire ropes, hydraulic and electric components, and spare parts.

ACE Services completed the refurbishment of eight Baylor/Hepburn 500 Anchor Winches operating on Transocean’s SEDCO 704. Project work took place while the drilling rig was in dry dock at the Nigg Shipyard, with the anchor winches removed and mobilised for local inspection and repair at ACE Winches Towie Barclay Works facilities. Success in the SEDCO 704 Anchor Winch refurbishment project has endorsed ACE Winches as a quality service provider focusing on schedule, budget and specification. This focus on delivery has seen Transocean award ACE Winches with further winch refurbishment projects on both the John Shaw and the SEDCO 714 drilling rigs.

Iain Penny of Transocean SEDCO 704 said: “The service team displayed an outstanding attitude throughout. They were hard working, diligent, professional and extremely proficient in their field of expertise. They actively participated in Transocean’s safety culture. In addition they displayed a real ‘can do’ attitude and never shied away from participating in work even when outside of their own work scope … the lads were outstanding and are a credit to ACE Winches. It was a pleasure to work with them for the 704’s yard stay.”
