AF Industry and SSPA Secure Contract on LNG in Europe

Project & Tenders

With an aim to make framework recommendations to establish a maritime LNG infrastructure in the Baltic Sea, North Sea and the English Channel the Danish Maritime Authority (DMA) has chosen ÅF Industry AB and SSPA Sweden AB to fulfill a feasibility study and test of recommendations encompassing both technical as well as economic issues.

DMA, on behalf of a wide range of partners, is leading an effort with participation from Scandinavian countries, Belgium and Holland. The partners span from energy companies, ports, ship owners, etc to make LNG a competitive fuel option. The study will therefore actively engage and target a large number of central stakeholders for the establishment and use of an LNG infrastructure.

A wide range of key experts from ÅF and SSPA will closely cooperate in this study in order to meet all demands in this challenging project. SSPA and ÅF provide considerable experience in energy market analysis, LNG as fuel, bunkering, safety and regulations and infrastructure development. The two companies are just to finalize national studies on location criteria of terminals and LNG market potentials for the Swedish Energigas.

The study will start in May and be finalized in early 2012. It is part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) – Motorways of the Seas (MoS) and the project, with a budget exceeding 1 million Euros, will end up in a strategic decision paper.
