Alam Maritim wins PFLNG 1 job

Alam Maritim Resources on Wednesday said it has been awarded a subcontract to work on Petronas’ first floating liquefied natural gas unit (PFLNG 1). 

According to the company’s filing to the stock exchange, its unit, Alam Maritim has been awarded a subcontract for FLNG offshore works for the supply of miscellaneous marine spreads for the PFLNG 1.

The contract has been valued at RM28.3 million (approx. US$6.8 million) and is expected to commence in mid-June 2016 with the completion expected in mid-October 2016.

Petronas’ PFLNG 1, named PFLNG SATU, has recently sailed away from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering’s (DSME) shipyard in Okpo, South Korea and headed for the Kanowit gas field offshore Sarawak.

The 365-metre long structure will be able to produce 1.2 million tonnes of LNG per year and is designed for water depths between 70 metres to 200 metres deep with 145 crew onboard.
