Alaska, REI extend LNG cooperation

Alaska’s governor Bill Walker signed a document extending the state’s cooperation with Japan’s Resources Energy (REI) consortium on the development of Cook Inlet natural gas.

Earlier in the year, governor Walker visited Japan holding discussions with numerous companies, championing Alaskan LNG resources.

According to a recent statement from governor Walker’s office, the agreement with Resources Energy has been extended until December 14, 2017.

Under the extended cooperation agreement, the parties will further discuss opportunities of advancing the LNG project located in the Cook Inlet.

Walker added that, together with securing gas supply for local consumers, Alaska is looking forward to exporting liquefied natural gas as the Alaska LNG project advances.
