Alstom Grid Opens New Offshore-Project Office (Germany)

In the presence of Cornelia Yzer, Senator of Berlin for Economic affairs, Alstom Grid GmbH has opened in the Berlin district of Neukölln an Offshore-Project office to handle all activities connecting offshore windparks to the mainlandgrid.

The company has been recently awarded the DolWin 3 offshore project. This project, with an investment volume of more than 1 billion Euros, connects the North Sea wind farms to the mainland supergrid. With a capacity of 900 MW this windpark is an important step to face the challenges of the energy turnaround.

Moving forward Alstom will handle out of Berlin the DolWin 3 project and new HVDC tenders including all engineering activities of further orders for grid offshore connection.

”We’ve decided to go for Berlin, since the city is favourably situated in terms of distance to the Northern- and Baltic sea. Furthermore Berlin offers the potential to hire new highly qualified and motivated people who are interested in joining the exciting challenges offered by the energy turnaround,” explained Reinhard Bahrke, Vice President Sales for Alstom Grid CEER.
