Amasus orders four diesel-electric MPP cargo ships

Dutch shipping company Amasus has signed a contract with compatriot Handelskade Shipsales and Turkish Boğaziçi Shipyard for a series of four multipurpose (MPP) shortsea cargo ships.

As informed, the ships will measure 89.95 meters in length and 14 meters in width. They will be designed by Dutch engineering company Dekc Maritime and classed by maritime classification society Lloyd’s Register.

DEKC Maritime offers concept design, basic design, and detail engineering for new build vessels as well as support during the lifetime of a vessel, such as support with modifications, mobilizations and project specific engineering. 

The company revealed that the vessels will be powered by a diesel-electric power system. The installation will be carried out according to the latest technical standards.

The cargo ships will have a total capacity of 178.300 cft. Furthermore, they will be capable of carrying wind turbine blades and constructions in open top conditions as well as containers, bulk cargo and break bulk cargoes.

Amasus emphasized that, due to their design and configuration, the units are ready for for the use of zero-emission fuels in the future.

The expected delivery and operational date is at the end of 2023.
