Ampelmann said on Thursday that the company completed its first transfer for BP in Trinidad & Tobago in 2010 and has since enabled another 17 projects in seven countries.

Gus DeOliveira, area sales head for the Americas, said: “Half a million people transfers in eight years is a key milestone for Ampelmann. We thank BP for their continuous trust and support in jointly making the oil and gas industry safer and more efficient.”

“The safe delivery of these transfers is a great achievement. The operation continues to systematically deliver great safety performance by applying strong operating discipline,” a BP marine representative said.

In total, Ampelmann enabled the safe transfer of more than 4.7 million people and over 9 million kilograms of cargo worldwide.

The company added that BP used its A- and E-type systems, both of which can operate in sea states of 3m Hs and higher. Tailored solutions have included the slideway as an add-on that enables the continuous flow of personnel from vessel to offshore platform.
