Anadarko Heidelberg truss spar en route to offshore location

Anadarko Petroleum, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company based in the U.S., has informed that its giant Heidelberg truss spar hull has left a yard in Texas, and is now on its way to its offshore location in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

The company shared the info through Facebook on Wednesday, without providing more info on the sail away ceremony date.

Anadarko’s 23,000-ton Heidelberg truss spar hull has embarked upon its journey from Ingleside, Texas, to Green Canyon block 860 in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. As part of the field development, the truss spar, built by Technip in Finland, will be mated with a 10,000-ton topsides is being constructed in Texas.

Heidelberg is Anadarko’s second spar in a “design one, build two” series that began with the Lucius spar, which started producing oil in January, 2015. Replicating Lucius, the Heidelberg spar will have a capacity of 80,000 barrels of oil per day and 2.3 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. First oil from the field is expected in 2016.
