Angola LNG Terminal Shut Down

The Angola LNG terminal, which sent off its first LNG cargoes in June, is currently shut down for inspections.

“The plant is currently in a shutdown state for inspections and corrections to ensure the ongoing safe and reliable production of LNG,” an Angola LNG spokesman told Platts.

“It will restart once the necessary work is complete and the production ramp-up schedule will be based on performance of the plant,” the spokesman added.

Angola LNG terminal is currently producing at just 20 percent of its maximum capacity due to a string of upstream setbacks. The LNG terminal will probably be producing at full capacity by the end of 2014.

At full production it is expected that over 70 cargoes per year will leave the Angola LNG terminal, supplying 5.2 million tons per year of LNG, plus propane, butane and condensate.
