API: passage of FY17 NDAA to expedite LNG permitting process

FY17 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes LNG exports provisions has been passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday.

The American Petroleum Institute (API) issued a statement noting the act, that will also expedite the Department of Energy LNG permit application process, will strengthen American and global energy security.

In its comment of the House of Representatives’ action, API’s Executive Vice President Louis Finkel said, “Today’s action by the U.S. House of Representatives to approve LNG exports provisions as part of the defense authorization bill further cements the critical role U.S. energy plays at home and abroad.”

Finkel added that the United States have to take advantage of the energy renaissance by providing LNG exports and ensuring diverse energy supply across the globe.
