APLNG Supports Australia/U.S. Joint Skills Initiative

Australia Pacific LNG welcomes today’s announcement of the Joint Skills Initiative by the Australian Government and United States Embassy, linking Australian employers with skilled workers in the US to fill skill shortages in the resource industry.

Australia Pacific LNG CEO, Page Maxson, said that while every effort and priority is made to employ locally for the project, there would continue to be a demand for skills that, due to shortages, could not be found in Australia.

Moving forward, this initiative may assist our project by enabling skilled US workers to temporarily fill skill shortages in Australia and providing opportunities for knowledge sharing between the two countries. We are pleased to support the Australian Government and US Embassy in their efforts,” Mr Maxson said.

The Joint Skills Initiative includes mechanisms for skilled US workers to be granted immediate access to provisional Australian licences on arrival, as well as Job Expos to be held in the United States.
