 Apply, Samsung Pen Martin Linge LQ Contract

Norway’s Apply has signed a final contract with South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries for the delivery of Living Quarters for Total’s Marting Linge field development in the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea.

The contract was signed on April 5, two months after the two companies signed a letter of intent.

Samsung/Technip consortium is responsible the engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation, hook-up and commissioning of the topsides of a fixed production platform at the field, formerly known as Hild. The topsides will compose of utility, process and flare modules, as well as a living quarter with 95 single-bed cabins. The topsides, with an estimated operating weight of 25,000 tons, will be installed on an eight legged jacket.

Apply will, under the newly awarded contract, supply a new 7 floor Living Quarters module with an area of 3700 m2, a capacity of 95 single cabins, recreation areas, change rooms, helicopter deck and other facilities required for operation of an offshore hotel. The Living Quarters will be constructed in steel.  Delivery  of the LQs is scheduled in Q2 2016.

The Martin Linge development will consist of a production fixed platform, a floating storage offloading vessel, 50MW AC electric power from shore through a 160-kilometer subsea cable, a 24’’ gas export pipeline and an offshore control center in Stavanger.

Total investments in the development amount to about NOK 26 billion (US$4.2 billion), with recoverable reserves in the field estimated at 189 million barrels of oil equivalents.
