Aqualis inks cooperation deal in China

Aqualis Offshore and China Ship Design & Research Center Co. (CSDC) have signed an agreement to cooperate on engineering projects both in China and internationally.

CSDC specialises in shipbuilding and offshore engineering services. It is a subsidiary company of China Shipbuilding Industry Corp (CSIC), a shipbuilding group in China.

Aqualis Offshore is a specialized offshore marine and engineering consultancy firm, focusing on the shallow and deep-water offshore segments of the oil and gas industry. It is part of Oslo-listed Aqualis ASA.

“I am delighted with this strategic partnership agreement, which I am confident will open up exciting opportunities for both CSDC and Aqualis Offshore,” says Reuben Segal, chief operating officer in Aqualis Offshore.

Aqualis explained that, under the agreement, Aqualis Offshore and CSDC will cooperate in the fields of engineering, project management, research, innovation and marketing. A key objective is to develop a joint engineering service to offshore newbuild projects in China and elsewhere, the company added.

Aqualis Offshore and CSDC aim to provide a joint engineering service to all offshore projects, including jack-ups, TLPs, spars, semi-submersibles and FPSOs. They will also provide FEED services, including conceptual design, basic design and national research projects, plus detailed design engineering service for transportation and offshore installation of fixed platforms, floating structures and subsea facilities.

“We are very pleased with the ability to expand our horizon in the international market through close cooperation with Aqualis Offshore and its international office network,” says Li Zhonggang, vice president at CSDC.

“CSDC has a clear advantage that it can provide engineering services to CSIC’s yards in China. We will ensure that we will provide CSDC with competitive offshore engineering competence and capacity whenever it is required,” says Peng Yongfei, Aqualis Offshore’s country manager in China.
