Argentina: Excelerate Energy Completes 200th STS LNG Transfer

Excelerate Energy L.P. completed its 200th commercial  Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer of LNG on November 27, 2011 in Escobar, Argentina at the GNL Escobar LNG import facility.

Using Excelerate Energy’s regasification vessel, Exemplar and the conventional LNG carrier Excel, 58,230 cubic meters of LNG were transferred using the double-banked LNG transfer system. Whilst having just reached the 100th STS transfer milestone in March of this year, increased demand for LNG coupled with a need for rapid and reliable delivery to market, accelerated the realization of this latest milestone.

Excelerate Energy developed and implemented the industry’s first STS transfer system for LNG deliveries to regasification vessels in 2005 in order to optimize the capabilities of regasification vessels and to provide a viable solution for providing a continuous supply to market. STS transfers have been commercially accepted and proven in a wide range of environments including open ocean locations and protected bodies of water at a variety of locations between the LNG load ports and the market delivery points.

On November 19, 2011, Excelerate Energy was recognized by the CWC World LNG Summit for its contribution to the industry by being awarded the 2011 CWC LNG Technological Innovation Award for its pioneering efforts in STS transfers of LNG.

We are profoundly pleased to be the recipient of the LNG Technological Innovation Award for having developed and implemented the first ship-to-ship transfer system. We have always been committed to growing the industry through innovation and it is a great honor to have our contribution recognized by our peers,” stated Rob Bryngelson, President and CEO of Excelerate Energy.
