Arklow Marine Launches 20m WFSV Ahead of Schedule (Ireland)

On the longest day of the year Arklow Marine Services successfully launched their second 20 metre wind farm service vessel into the River Avoca at Arklow. The vessel looking splendid in her Alicat colours has again been delivered ahead of her scheduled delivery date.

Local people crammed the quaysides, both north and south to witness the event and with meticulous planning the 250 crane lifted, turned and majestically placed the vessel into the river basin.

With all systems go all equipment and electrical circuits will now be tested and it is hoped to start the main engines later today. Basin trials will be held tomorrow and all equipment run on test and sea trials carried out on Thursday next in Arklow Bay. The vessel is due to depart Arklow on 1st July where she will commence her coastal delivery promotional trip. The Owners Gardline and Alicat intend to bring the vessel north heading to the west coast of the U.K. calling on ports Liverpool, Fleetwood, Barrow and then heading back for Belfast to showcase the vessel’s capabilities and excellent layout, before navigating through the Caledonian Canal on passage to the east coast of the U.K. then travelling south to call on major ports to her homeport of Great Yarmouth.

The Yard are delighted to have completed this prestigious two vessel order and thank Alicat for their confidence, assistance and expertise during the build, hopefully it will be a long relationship.
