Australia: Council Announces Daintree River Dredging

Council Announces Daintree River Dredging

Cairns Regional Council announced that dredging of the channel used by the Daintree River ferry will be undertaken from Thursday, May 16.

Dredging is required annually to ensure that the ferry can provide a reliable service for residents and visitors.

Dredging is scheduled to occur from May 16 to 28 and June 4 to 11, when the tides are suitable for this work. Dredging will be carried out at night between 9pm and 6am to minimise disruptions to ferry services.

The ferry will continue to transport vehicles until midnight while the work is in progress. Any delays are expected to be minimal.
