Dimension Data Nabs Wheatstone Contract

Dimension Data, the global ICT services and solutions provider, said that it has entered into an agreement with Chevron Australia for the Detailed Design and Design Assurance of the Permanent Network and Telephony Systems for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project in Western Australia.

The Wheatstone Project is one of Australia’s largest resource projects. It will provide significant economic benefits such as employment, government revenue and local business opportunities.

This contract is one of Australia’s largest professional services contracts and will see the majority of the manufacturing work completed in Australia. Under the agreement, we also expect to create additional positions to add to our Perth operations,” said Rodd Cunico, CEO for Dimension Data Australia.

Dimension Data will play a crucial role in supporting the project, potentially over the next five years.

We are currently starting phase one, spanning two years, which includes the planning, design and defining the scope of building Chevron’s network and telephony infrastructure for the both the offshore platform as well as the processing plant located at Ashburton North. This phase includes establishing a lab environment for validating the detailed design features of the network”, said Mr Cunico.

Dimension Data will also provide design assurance services for Chevron’s subcontractors for any work they perform that interfaces to the Chevron network.
