Australia: Disruptions at Nexus’ Longtom Gas Project

Nexus Energy Limited has been informed by Santos Limited (Santos), as operator of the Patricia-Baleen gas processing facility (facility), that a series of short-term production interruptions have occurred due to an intermittent electrical fault.

Production at the facility has been suspended, with the outage expected to continue until the fault is identified and fixed through an offshore intervention program.

The location of the fault has not yet been determined and could be within the Santos or Nexus offshore facilities at Longtom field offshore Victoria, Australia. A vessel has been mobilised and is scheduled to arrive in the field on 15 June 2012, depending on weather, to commence the inspection and rectification works.

Nexus, the operator of the field, signed gas sales agreement for Longtom with Santos in December 2005. Since the plant facility upgrade in October 2010, gas production reliability over this period has averaged 98%.

“All parties are working co-operatively to identify and remedy the fault and return the plant to continuous production as quickly asĀ  possible. Nexus will provide further updates once the problem is identified and a rectification solution developed,” said the company in a press release.
