Australia: Geelong Mayor Sees Need for Port Upgrades

Acting Mayor Cameron Granger believes that there is the need for the council to take the lead in creating opportunities for the port over the next 50 years, reports Geelong Advertiser.

The port is the future of economic growth in Geelong,” he said.

He calls for the council to initiate talks with key stakeholders what could boost economic prosperity of the city’s port.

Cr Granger said that dredging would be needed anticipating the creation of a 20-30 year dredging plan.

The port’s activities are expected to increase their worth to $550 million by 2030.
