Australia: Government Finalizes Terms of Reference for Gladstone Dredging

Government Finalises Terms of Reference for Gladstone Dredging

The terms of reference on the environmental impact statement for the Gladstone Harbour dredging program have been finalized by the State Government, reports abc.net.au.

The Gladstone Ports Corporation’s plan includes the construction of a nine kilometer long shipping lane that should be deep about 16.1 metres.

Regarding this issue, the State Development Minister Jeff Seeney stated that the draft “hasn’t markedly changed but it’s given people an opportunity to have an input into the process.”

Capricorn Conservation Council spokesman Michael McCabe commented: “It’s very frustrating for the community to have a lot of effort put into commenting on a draft terms of reference to see little variation,” according to abc.net.au.
