Next Phase of Port Kembla Development Includes Dredging

The State Government plans to spend almost $21 million on new and upgraded infrastructure at Port Kembla in the next financial year, according to illawarramercury.com.

Work undertaken to date has resulted in a portion of the reclaimed area to be handed over to Cement Australia to allow them to commence construction of their facilities, ports minister Duncan Gay said.

The next phase of the work will involve preparing detailed designs and technical specifications for the first new outer harbour berth, dredging of the shipping channel and berthing basin, and the reclamation of additional land for the handling of bulk cargo.
