Australia: Santos GLNG Launches Virtual Field Explorer

Santos GLNG Launches Virtual Field Explorer

Visitors to the Santos GLNG Roma Shopfront are now able to explore and discover parts of the Project’s gas fields and infrastructure. Santos GLNG today launched its Virtual Field Explorer, a state-of-the-art, mega touch screen and interactive table.

Santos GLNG Maranoa Regional Manager Sam Klaas said visitors were able to watch short films and animations, access the latest project information and tour key infrastructure like gas compressor stations and water treatment facilities.

“Santos GLNG has always been transparent in how we operate and this is an exciting way we can share more of what we do with community members, visitors to the region, school children and anyone who wants to take the time to learn about our industry,” Mr Klaas said.

“Users can geographically locate areas of interest and experience fly overs and virtual tours.

“Technology now means we can create a unique experience for the user where the content floats on top of a large digital touch screen table where you can browse images and movie files using simple drag and drop, pinch and stretch gestures.”

Up to four guests can use the Virtual Field Explorer at the same time to allow a collaborative experience the Santos GLNG Project.

A personalised scrapbook can also be created from the content and shared through social media.

“Content can then be flicked up onto a large wall mounted touch screen as well, creating a great way to share information with a group,” Mr Klaas said.

“The Virtual Field Explorer can also act as the ultimate presentation tool for community engagement opportunities where a tailored presentation can be built with unique content including slides, spread sheets, documents, images and movies brought together from different files.”

Visitors are encouraged to experience the Virtual Field Explorer at the Santos GLNG Roma Shopfront, 80 McDowall Street.
