Australia: Santos GLNG Updates on Tunnel Boring Works

Santos GLNG Updates on Tunnel Boring Works

Only one kilometre remains before Santos GLNG’s tunnel boring machine (TBM) breaks through to the surface at Curtis Island, Gladstone.

The tunnel being constructed underneath The Narrows reached a distance of 3.3 kilometres this week and is now boring upwards having passed the tunnel’s deepest point.

Once the tunnel reaches its full length of 4.3 kilometres, pipe segments will be pulled into it and connected.

The tunnel will link the project’s gas fields at Fairview, north of Roma, to the liquefied natural gas plant on Curtis Island.

Work progresses at the reception pad to ready the area for the TBM’s arrival.
