Averøy to host Deepsea Bergen rig ahead of next drilling assignment

Norwegian offshore driller Odfjell Drilling has chosen the Averøy Industripark AS industrial area to place its Deepsea Bergen rig into, ahead of the next assignment.

According to a statement by Averoy, the rig is expected in the yard on Monday where it will be warm-stacked and maintained for its next project in Norway with Austria’s OMV.

The Deepsea Bergen semi-submersible drilling rig has recently completed the drilling of the Goanna well for Wellesley in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The well was dry.

According to Averoy, the rig will stay there for two months after which it will mobilize to drill the Iris and Hades prospects for OMV. The well will be located some 20 kilometers from the Morvin and Smørbukk Fields in the prolific Halten Terrace hydrocarbon province of the Norwegian Sea, around 280 kilometers north of Averøy and 300 km west of Brønnøysund.
