Royal HaskoningDHV has just released a video about the UK’s first ever sandscaping coastal project named the ‘Bacton to Walcott Coastal Management Sandcaping Scheme’.

The project, awarded by North Norfolk District Council, will be executed by Van Oord and Royal Haskoning DHV, working as part of Team Van Oord.

Sandscaping, which started earlier this week, involves a large ship pumping sand from the seabed from licensed dredging areas, sailing back to Bacton where the sand is nourished onto the shore and positioned by bulldozers.

During the works, approximately 1.8 million cubic meters of sand will be dredged and placed onto the Bacton to Walcott beaches.

According to the Council, the project is expected to progress quickly, starting at Bacton Gas Terminal and working towards Walcott.

The sandscaping work is scheduled to finish mid-August.
