Banff FPSO back online after North Sea storm caused shutdown

The article has been updated with confirmation from CNR

Canadian Natural Resources (CNR) UK Limited has re-started production from its Petrojarl Banff floating, production, offloading and storage (FPSO) vessel in the North Sea following a shutdown caused by a storm.

The production was stopped in early January when a heavy storm hit the region causing the FPSO to lose tension in two of its anchor lines. There were no injuries reported.

CNR informed on Monday that work to re-tension the Petrojarl Banff’s anchor lines is now complete and production from the vessel re-started on January 23, 2016.

The Banff field lies approximately 200 miles east of Aberdeen in the Central North Sea, blocks 22/27a and 29/21. The field is operated by CNR International and produced via the leased Petrojarl Banff FPSO owned by Teekay. The FPSO is located 190km east of Aberdeen, in the Central North Sea.

The FPSO Petrojarl Banff was built in 1997 and has storage capacity of 88,000 bbls. It employs a wedge shape design, it is 120.7 m long and accommodates 60 people.
