Bardex Scores Ichthys Contract

Bardex of USA said that it has received a purchase order from Samsung Heavy Industries of South Korea for a mooring system for the Ichthys semi-submersible central processing facilities production vessel.

The order comprises four moveable Bardex Linear Chain Jacks and twenty eight Bardex proprietary BarLatch™ Fairlead Stoppers, the latter are designed to react the break strength of the 178 mm Grade R4 top chain. Four Bardex designed hydraulic power units, chain jack and ancillary chain handling equipment including computer controlled controls are an integral part of the design and supply order.

The CPF will be the world’s largest semi-submersible production vessel and will be located in the Browse Basin offshore Western Australia.

Inpex’s Ichthys development holds likely resource of 12.8 tcf of gas and 527 million barrels of condensate.

The project will have an initial capacity to produce 8.4 million tonnes of LNG per annum and 1.6 million tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per annum, as well as approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.
