Beatrice OWF Jackets Installation Moves Forward

Heavy lift vessel Oleg Strashnov has completed the installation of the sixth jacket foundation, out of 86 total, for the Beatrice offshore wind farm.

The Strashnov will complete the installation of the first phase of jackets over the coming months, Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL) said in a previous update.

Jacket installation activities are forecast to continue until December 2017 and then resume in May 2018, weather permitting.

The jackets, which are up to 80 meters tall, have been fabricated at facilities in Fife, Newcastle, Belgium and Denmark.

The Beatrice offshore wind farm, situated in the Outer Moray Firth, will consist of 84 Siemens 7MW turbines connected with the 140km of inter array cables to the two Siemens offshore transformer modules.

JDR has completed inter array cables which will be installed later this year, BOWL informed through its social media.

The Beatrice will be operated from a base in Wick and capable of providing enough energy to power up to 450,000 homes, when fully operational by the end of 2019.
