Bergen University College Starts Subsea Technology Bachelor's Degree (Norway)

Bergen University College announces the start-up of the “Subsea Technology – operation and maintenance” Bachelor’s degree in Florø from the autumn of 2013.

“Bergen University College is proud to be able to start up an engineering programme in Florø. Such an initiative matches our objective of supplying industrial and commercial high-demand skills. Bergen University College has very good experience from a similar study in Straume, which has evolved to become the most popular engineering programme in Norway. Therefore, we expect the that the study programme in Florø will be a success“, says President of Bergen University College, Ole Gunnar Søgnen.

About 80% of the funding for the program is in place through the following contributors: NOK 2 million from Sparebanken Sogn og Fjordane, NOK 2 million from Statoil, NOK 1 million from GDF SUEZ, NOK 1 million from the INC group, NOK 500 000 from BG Norway and NOK 450,000 from UTF (Underwater Technology Foundation). In addition, FMC Technologies will contribute with teachers equivalent to NOK 500 000. The remaining 20% of the funding will be worked on to put in place.
