BG secures PNG LNG cargo

BG Group has reportedly won a November cargo from ExxonMobil’s US$19 billion Papua New Guinea LNG project.

This was a part of a two-cargo tender that closed this week, and it is not known which company secured the second cargo, Reuters informs.

The PNG LNG project started production of LNG in April this year and delivered its first cargo in May, ahead of schedule.

It consists of two liquefaction trains with a total capacity of 6.9 million tonnes per year.

The LNG project is operated by ExxonMobil PNG in co-venture with Oil Search, National Petroleum Company of PNG, Santos, JX Nippon Oil & Gas, Mineral Resources Development Company (representing landowners) and Petromin PNG.
