Bibby Offshore Names New Commercial Director

Aberdeen-based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has appointed Nicky Etherson as its new commercial director to help facilitate the company’s ambitious growth plans.

Ms Etherson joins the business with almost 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, having previously held the position of head of contracts for Total E&P UK Limited.

Here she was responsible for managing all aspects of the contracts function, supported by a team of 15 personnel, covering a range of services including; drilling, well control, subsea support, logistics and topside operations.

Prior to this, Ms Etherson worked for oil and gas majors Acergy Limited, AMEC Oil and Gas and Technip Offshore.

Ms Etherson said, “Bibby Offshore is going from strength to strength, and the impressive plans and activity the company is currently undertaking make this an exciting and ideal time to join the business.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge of identifying new commercial opportunities, and driving growth across Bibby Offshore’s business activities. My prior experience and genuine interest in the industry will ensure I’m able to help progress the company, and contribute to the notable business that Bibby Offshore has evolved into over the past decade.”

As Commercial Director, Ms Etherson will be responsible for all Commercial and Contractual governance within the Bibby Offshore group of companies.

Bibby Offshore’s chief operating officer Fraser Moonie said: “The company is expanding at such a significant rate that we need talented, positive and motivated people to help manage this, and take us even further. Nicky’s wealth of experience and her impressive knowledge of the industry made her the ideal candidate for the role.

“Our recent management restructure, and the recruitment of over 90 people in the past six months, has been essential in order to manage the significant demand there is for the company’s expertise. We’re on track to triple the size of our business around the world in the next four years, and welcome Nicky to the team and look forward to continuing to develop the business with her on board.”

Bibby Offshore is on target to achieve a turnover of £220million by the end of 2013 and plans to increase this to £650million by 2017. In May this year Bibby Offshore relocated to a new, purpose built office facility at Prospect Park, Westhill, to provide the company with the additional capacity necessary to support its significant increase in staff numbers and services, as Bibby Offshore’s operations expand both in the UK and internationally.

BOL and BRIL, part of Bibby Offshore has grown from 10 employees in 2003 to now employing more than 1,300 people onshore and offshore worldwide, with offices in Aberdeen, Liverpool, Singapore and Trinidad. The company has an international fleet of six subsea support vessels and 13 Remote Operating Vehicles (ROV) and will continue to add to their fleet to meet demand.
