Blue Water Lends a Hand to Bilfinger Mars Offshore

Blue Water Shipping has signed a five-year terminal contract covering all logistics on Bilfinger Mars Offshore’s new fabrication site n Szczecin, Poland, including operation of a state-of-the-art gantry crane, handling of components and stevedoring.

Bilfinger Mars Offshore, which provides offshore foundations to the wind industry, will use the site in Szczecin for serial production of jackets, jacket components, transition pieces and monopiles for water depths of up to 60 metres and will produce more than 120.000 tons of steel annually, once in full operation.

Kim Thygesen from Blue Water Lindo is responsible for the project in Szczecin. The gantry crane, which is more than 120 metres high, has a lifting capacity of 1,400 tons. Blue Water will be responsible for operating the crane as well as all SPMTs (Self-Propelled-Modular-Transporters) which are often used to move the large components on the site.

“We have cooperated with Bilfinger for many years, and we are pleased to develop the cooperation further. We will provide a solid workforce based on many years of experience from Lindo and Esbjerg,” said Brian Sørensen, Business Development Manager for Blue Water Wind.
