BMT Develops Strategic Plan for Weifang Port Development (China)

BMT Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, the international design, engineering and risk management consultancy, has announced its latest project providing port planning consultancy for Malaysia-based, diversified multinational, Sime Darby Berhad.

BMT developed a strategic master plan for the development of Weifang Port, located in the Shandong Province, China, covering economic, technical and financial aspects.

As part of the port’s on-going RMB 2.8 billion (RM 1.4 billion) expansion work, Sime Darby turned to BMT for its expertise in port planning having played an integral role in other, similar projects in China. In order to develop the most efficient and cost effective master plan, BMT carried out extensive analysis and research on areas including: hinterland market, pricing strategy, cost audit and structural integrity study, throughput forecasting, layout design and financial assessment.

Utilising its technical skills in assessing and designing port layouts, as well as its business strategy expertise, BMT provided a comprehensive package of master planning services, ranging from external market investigation to internal operation analysis.
