Boat Smashes into Norwegian Oil Rig, 60 Workers Evacuated

A moving supply boat has smashed into the suspension legs of a Statoil rig in Oseberg Øst, an offshore oil field in the North Sea, early this morning ( around 1.a.m local time), Norwegian news provider The Local writes.

The rig and the supply boat have been slightly damaged in the collision, but fortunately there were no injuries reported.

Some 60 workers had to be evacuated from the rig as a precautionary measure.

The work was resumed around 3 a.m. when the workers were cleared to return to the platform.
