Borr Drilling’s rig duo finds more work in US and Mexico

Bermuda-based offshore drilling contractor Borr Drilling has won a new assignment in the United States (U.S.) with an undisclosed operator for one premium jack-up rig and a contract extension with Italy’s Eni for another off the coast of Mexico.

While disclosing new contract commitments for two of its premium jack-up rigs, Borr Drilling explains that both jobs are in the Americas. The Ran jack-up rig has received a one-well extension with Eni in Mexico, which has an anticipated duration of 75 days, keeping the rig on firm contract through March 2026.

However, the remaining options under the contract allow for 240 days of extension beyond the end of the new committed term; thus, the Italian giant may prolong the rig’s stay further. With a maximum drilling depth is 35,000 feet, the 2013-built Ran rig is of KFELS Super A design and can operate in water depths of up to 400 feet.

The Odin jack-up rig has secured a contract for two wells plus an optional well with an unnamed operator in the U.S., set to begin in mid-2026, with an estimated duration of 60 days per well. The 2013-built rig is of KFELS Super B Bigfoot Class design and can accommodate 150 people.

Constructed at Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore, the rig is capable of operating in water depths of up to 350 feet, and its maximum drilling depth is 35,000 feet.
