The topside will begin its journey from HSM Offshore’s site in Schiedam at around 7:30 a.m. local time and will travel via the Nieuwe Waterweg and Hoek van Holland where it will enter the North Sea, TenneT informed.

Upon arrival to the site, the topside will be placed onto its jacket foundation, which was installed in August last year.

Borssele Alpha, scheduled for completion by August, will collect the electricity generated by Ørsted’s Borssele 1 + 2 offshore wind farm and feed it into the Dutch grid.

HSM Offshore is in charge of delivering both the 700MW Borssele Alpha and the 700MW Borssele Beta transformer stations.

The two platforms are the first large-scale grid connections to be constructed under the National Energy Agreement for offshore wind farms in the Netherlands. Borssele Beta is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
