BP to Offload MR2 Tanker Trio

UK-based oil major BP has been linked to the sale of three Medium Range 2 (MR2) tanker veterans, data from VesselsValue shows.

The three tankers, built in 2005 by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, are British Courtesy, British Serenity and British Tranquility.

The British-flagged ships form part of BP’s Virtue class comprising five ships. The vessels are operated by BP Shipping Limited and classed by Lloyds Register.

The identity of the buyer has not been disclosed.

The vessels, the sale of which is put on due diligence, is expected to bring BP a total of USD 36.6 million, according to VesselsValue.

BP has 31 vessels in its live fleet, including 15 tankers, three LPG and two LNG carriers, with six more being under construction.
