Brazil: Petrobras Finds Oil in Santos Basin Pre-Salt Layer

Brazil’s state controlled oil company, Petrobras, reports another discovery in the pre-salt layer of Santos basin, offshore Brazil.

The company announces that it has discovered a new accumulation of good quality oil in the area BM-S-8 ,informally known as Caracara, situated some 232 km off the coast of São Paulo.

The discovery, made at the depth of 5750 meters below the seabed was confirmed by means of 31 ° API oil samples.

Petrobras operates the licence with 66% stake, in partnership with Petrogal Brazil (14%), Barra Energía do Brasil Petróleo e Gás Ltda. (10%)  and Queiroz Galváo Explorado e Produjo S.A. (10%).
