Brunei: Indicent at BLNG Plant


On 9 November 2010 at approximately 14.30 hrs, Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad (BLNG) experienced electrical failure at one of its own Sub-Stations.

As a precautionary measure, two Liquefaction Trains were safely shutdown resulting in a bigger than normal flaring.

As part of the BLNG normal emergency response procedure, BLNG staff and contractors were evacuated from the Plant.

The Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) and Sungai Liang Fire Department were also called on site.

The Plant was declared safe to resume normal activities at 17.25 hrs.

The cause of the electrical failure is currently being investigated.

BLNG would like to assure that there were no injuries or immediate danger to the safety of the people in the Plant and the community.

The safety and well being of the staff, contractors and the community remain a top priority.
